HOLSTER is stepping up its global growth strategy, after opening a new store in South Africa.

The Noosa-based jellies footwear brand targeted the up-and-coming fashion hub of Johannesburg to open its new boutique.

The move will accommodate growing demand from overseas distributors, with the brand stocked in UK department stores including Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Russell & Bromley.

Holster co-founder Ben Nothling says the business leveraged a lift in sales, both in-store and online, to expand internationally.

"There has been discussion for the past nine months with our South African distributor," Nothling says.

"They came to Noosa in February and we finalised the first store then. We are very positive about the new store with more in the pipeline for South Africa."

He says holster will explore opportunities in Cape Town and Durban next, as part of its retail expansion in the country.

With a population of more than four million, Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and is known for its wide range of shopping malls.

Store merchandise will replicate holster's Noosaville store, sharing summer footwear trends with an international fashion market.

Holster already has a store in Dubai, with plans to open a new location in China late next year.
